Have you ever thought about the fact that God desires to do life with you? He loves you and He cares about every detail of your life. The things that are important to you are also important to God. Let Him hold you by the hand on this journey of life. You will not regret walking with God.

Benefits of Walking with God

1. Walking With God Provides Safety & Security

I enjoy taking my 1 year old daughter for a walk on sunny days! Even though she can walk perfectly on her own, I hold her hand as we walk together.

This is my way of ensuring her safety. When I hold her hand, I can get her out of the way quickly if something or someone crosses our path. I can see ahead and notice when the sidewalk is uneven. She may not see it, but when I hold her hand, I can keep her from falling.

She may stumble, she may even feel like she is going to fall, but I’m holding her hand. I won’t let her fall. I can use my strength to make sure she doesn’t fall onto the pavement.

This makes me think about our relationship with God.

For I hold you by your right hand—
I, the Lord your God.
And I say to you,
‘Don’t be afraid. I am here to help you.

Isaiah 41:13 NLT

God is walking right beside you, and He is holding your hand! This is why He tells us not to be afraid. He is with us to help us. He provides safety and security for us as we walk with Him.

When He holds our hand, He can guide us out of harm’s way quickly. He can see ahead of us and notice things we can’t see, and He keeps us from falling!

We may stumble and we may feel like we are falling, but God uses His strength to make sure we don’t fall.

Though they stumble, they will never fall,
for the Lord holds them by the hand.

Psalm 37:24 NLT

2. God Helps Us When We Walk With Him

When we walk with God, He helps us. He helps us understand what decisions are best, and which paths to take.

We don’t have to be afraid because He is right beside us. He won’t allow anything bad to happen to us. When we feel stuck, He will guide us and pull us through tough situations.

God gives us strength when we feel weak. He upholds us with His hand even when we feel weary.

God Almighty cares so much about us that He helps us when we walk with Him. This alleviates us of the pressure to try to do things on our own.

We don’t have to have all the answers or try to figure things out alone because God is with us and He promises that He will help us. He always makes good on His promises.

Don’t be afraid, for I am with you.
Don’t be discouraged, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you and help you.
I will hold you up with my victorious right hand.
Isaiah 41:10 NLT

3. God Leads & Guides Us When We Walk With Him

If you’re a parent, or have been responsible for children, then you understand that you can guide a child with facial expression alone.

Have you ever seen a child being busy in a store, and his mom merely gives them a look? Once the child sees that look on his mom’s face he knows he needs to stop immediately.

In the same way, God is our Good Father. He leads us and guides us when we are obedient to Him, and when we need a bit more guidance..

Scripture says that He will guide us with His eye. In order for this to happen, we must walk with Him and follow His lead.

When we commit to walking with Him, He will guide us. God helps us to know what to say and what not to say. He leads us on where to go and where not to go.

God gives us wisdom and He advises us. This eliminates unnecessary hardship in life. It is a benefit for those that walk with God.

I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go: I will guide thee with mine eye.
Psalm 32:8 KJV

Walking with God Verses

Throughout scripture, we see the importance of walking with God and following His leading. Here are just a few Bible verses to encourage you to walk with God.

When we walk with God we must walk by faith. It’s important to trust Him with each step we take even when we don’t see the big picture yet.

For we live by believing and not by seeing.
2 Corinthians 5:7 NLT

As we walk with the Lord, we have to trust Him completely. We cannot depend on our own logic. When we seek Him in everything, He will show us what path is best.

Trust in the Lord with all your heart;
do not depend on your own understanding.
Seek his will in all you do,
and he will show you which path to take.
Proverbs 3:5-6 NLT

God will lead us along the best pathway and it is up to us to stay on that path with Him. When we do this, we are promised long and prosperous lives.

Stay on the path that the Lord your God has commanded you to follow. Then you will live long and prosperous lives in the land you are about to enter and occupy.
Deuteronomy 5:33 NLT

When we are walking with God we must remember that He also leads us through His word. When we read the Bible, God leads us and makes the right path clear.

Your word is a lamp to guide my feet
and a light for my path.
Psalm 119:105 NLT

    1. Thanks so much! The Lord laid it on my heart to share and I thought it was a great comparison. Blessings!

  1. Love this, thanks for sharing. I also find it helpful to compare my love for my children with the love of God. I mean, it’s not really comparable, but just like we are loving parents God is so much more of a loving Father. It helps us realize more the loving character of God. Thanks!

    1. Yes, I agree Cindra! Our love doesn’t really compare, but it is a great reflection and reminder of the magnitude of the love of our Good Father. Well said!

    1. Amen! That is very comforting. He is with us and we don’t have to go through anything in life without Him.
